Your horse deserves a holiday too!
At Castlehill Stables, you can stable your horse and take full advantage of our various livery services. By day, take your pick from a number of forest riding trails, or enjoy a picnic on the hills above Peebles as you watch the Tweed wind its way through the valley below.
We also provide secure storage facilities for bikes. If you want to give your horse a well-earned rest and use a different saddle, the “mountain biking Mecca” of Glentress Forest is only 9 miles away.
And by night, you’re only 5 miles from Peebles. Sample the best of Scottish produce every evening in the impressive Peebles Hydro, or join the locals for a knees up in the cosy and traditional Crown Hotel.
There’s been a major push to promote riding in the Scottish Borders in recent years, and with good reason! Boasting over 200 miles of off-road trails, the South of Scotland has been the hidden gem of horse riding for too long.
We recommend reviewing the routes on the Ride Scottish Borders website, including:
- Yair to Peebles via Traquair Forest – An easy intermediate long day ride taking in Yair Forest, Peebles, Traquair, Walkerburn, and Innerleithen.
- Cardona to the Glen – A 16 mile intermediate ride combining grassy hill paths and forest tracks with fantastic views.
- Cross Border Drove Road – Part of the 350km South of Scotland Countryside Trails network, this is a long distance linear riding route chock full of history.
If you need any advice when planning your ride, our friendly and knowledgeable yard staff will be happy to help.
